Keyboard shortcuts & quick commands

Every shortcut and quick command used to build and reorganise a map without leaving the keyboard.

Editing the outline

EnterCreate a new sibling node at the current indentation level
TabIndent the current line, turning it into a child of the node above
Shift + TabOutdent the current line, moving it up one level
Alt/Option + ↑Move the current node (and its children) up among its siblings
Alt/Option + ↓Move the current node (and its children) down among its siblings
` / @ / # / ~Open the quick command menu on the current line (configurable trigger key)

Working with the map view

Scroll wheelZoom the map in or out
+ / − (view controls)Zoom in or out using the on-screen buttons
Centre buttonRecentre the view on the current map
Click a nodeShow the quick toolbar for text colour and node background colour
Double-click a nodeOpen the node's detail panel (title, URL, notes, tags)
Drag a nodeFreely reposition the node within the map
+ button on a nodeAdd a new child node
> button on a nodeCollapse or expand the node's subtree

Diagrams & workspace

New tab (top-right of editor)Add another diagram alongside the current one
Double-click a diagram tabRename that diagram
× on a tabDelete a diagram (shown once more than one diagram exists)
Collapse-panel buttonHide the left-hand code editor panel for a larger map view

Quick commands

Type your configured trigger key at the start of a line to open the quick command menu, then choose one of the following.

textSet the node's plain text label.
markdownSet the node's text using markdown formatting.
urlAttach a URL to the node.
image / imgSet an image URL shown in the node's detail view.
colorSet the node's colour.
tagApply a colour-coded tag to the node.
shiningToggle a shining/glow effect on the node.
jumpToggle a jumping animation on the node.
